More than a decade ago, my wife started a new holiday experiential tradition.
Instead of streaming free Christmas movies on Christmas, we get up off the couch and go see a new theatrical release.
It began in 2012 with Les Misérables
In 2016 it was La La Land
Last year it was The Color Purple
Today we saw A Complete Unknown*
*Full disclosure: It wasn’t my first choice. Never been a big fan of Mr. Dylan.
So, how was it?
A Complete Unknown has displaced Les Misérables as my all-time favorite movie released on December 25th.
Later today, both of us will add a lot of Dylan songs to our playlists. (Plus music by Woody Guthrie. Pete Seeger. Joan Baez. Muddy Waters. Lead Belly. Al Kooper. And Paul Butterfield Blues Band guitarist Michael Bloomfield.

Thanks David. As usual you never disappoint me with your comments. My sister and I loved the film. His words mean so much to us now as tears came to my eyes thinking about what could have been, should have been. Wish I had seen him in person, but listening can put me in a kinder and safer world temporarily.
